Crocodiles: The Kings of Kimberley Waters

Our Kimberley adventure begins with the reptilian royalty of the region – saltwater
crocodiles. The Kimberley's waterways are their domain, and you'll often spot them lurking along riverbanks and estuaries. It is important to be on alert for saltwater crocodiles and never get in the water with them. Keep an eye out for marks where they slide into the water, be on the lookout and keep away if you see these! You are best to avoid swimming in water that is muddy, deep or still as crocodiles like to hide where they can’t be seen.

Freshwater Crocodiles: A Tamer Alternative

For a less intimidating crocodile encounter, head to freshwater habitats where the smaller, friendlier freshwater crocodiles reside. The Bell Gorge area is a prime location to spot these fascinating reptiles in their natural habitat. Stay croc wise and keep your distance.
